Winter 2009-2010
WHODUNIT!
We can’t tell you now, but join Cincinnati Music Theatre at the regional premiere of “Curtains”, and you’ll be sure to find out. Director Skip Fenker, along with Kathy Beiting (Producer), Kendra Struthers (Musical Director), and Mitchell Finke (Choreographer), have assembled an all star cast for CMT’s Spring production.
“Curtains” is based on the original book and concept by Peter Stone, and the musical is a send-up of backstage murder mystery plots, set in 1959 Boston. It follows the ‘mayhem’ when the supremely untalented star of Robbin' Hood, the show within the show, is murdered during her opening night curtain call. Frank Cioffi, a police detective who moonlights as a musical theater fan, arrives on the scene to solve the case. But can he solve the case, save the show, and even find love before the show reopens, without getting killed himself?
Brought to musical life by Kander and Ebb, the creators of “Cabaret”, “Chicago” and “Kiss of the Spider Woman”, “Curtains” is a bright and brassy musical that Cincinnati theatre fans will fall in love with.
“Curtains” runs May 7-15, 2010 at the Jarson-Kaplan Theater in the Aronoff Center for the Arts.
Guys and Dolls
From ‘Runyonland’ to the Mission, from the streets of New York to the sewer system below, Cincinnati audiences were treated to a wonderful night of theatre with our Fall production of “Guys and Dolls.” Under the direction of Charlie Russell, a newcomer to CMT’s stage, but not new to the Cincinnati theater scene, and his incredibly talented production staff, “Guys and Dolls” was a triumph.
The cast was led by a stellar quartet; Ian Dahlman, Natalie Jensen, Bryan Greaves and Meghan Kapp-Zlatic, with supporting actors Bryan Franke and Greg Goode, creating hilarious moments that theater fans loved. Adding balance, and support was a very diverse ensemble of singers, dancers and actors that helped bring Mr. Russell’s picture of New York to life. Congratulations to the entire cast, crew, orchestra and staff on a job well done!
Walking in a Winter Wonderland
A special thanks to Saks Fifth Avenue, for giving CMT an opportunity to promote our Spring show “Curtains”. During the month of December, CMT singers caroled at Saks as a way to bring charm to downtown for the Holiday’s AND to showcase our talent. The carolers also promoted “Curtains”, and the clients in the store are still talking about it. The cast of carolers included; Nicole Sandford, who also provided costumes, Sarah Mizelle, Chris Weidner, Julie Pergrem, and Shannon Beam. Thank you all so much for donating your time and talent to promote CMT!!
